Actress Carrie Fisher, the beloved Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy, has been gone for a few months now. Carrie Fisher was one of many celebrities that have voiced their outrage with the Yulin Dog Meat Festival that takes place each year in China. In June, Fisher and her beloved therapy dog, Gary attended the protest against the Yulin Dog Meat Festival at he Chinese embassy in London. Sadly, the petition with over 11 million signatures demanding the ban on the annual festival was rejected. Fisher was quoted as saying “There is so much animal suffering in the world, and much of it you feel helpless to end, but stopping the Yulin dog meat festival and ending all that suffering is easy. All the Chinese authorities need to do is declare it shut down, and the killing stops.”
“Gary is like my heart. Gary is very devoted to me, and that calms me down. He’s anxious when he’s away from me.”

Cowell’s tweet saying, “help stop this disgraceful animal torture and cruelty” immediately prompted 9,000 signatures.
Simon Cowell, owns two Yorkshire terriers called Squiddly and Diddly, said: “I can barely bring myself to talk about the horrific Yulin Dog and Cat Meat festival because it makes me so sick. But unless we all do something about this, it won’t stop. We have to act now to stop these barbaric & disgusting events FOREVER.”
